Electrical Technician - Mining Maintenance - Instrumentation & Underground Electrical - Job Description

The role is responsible for providing electrical and mechanical maintenance services to underground production and maintenance sections.

Key responsibilities will include:

Maintenance and programming of soft starters 3RW44 series, Simocode Pro V and Simocode DP
Fault finding using SCADA.
Maintenance, programming and fault finding on Siemens VSD’s
Maintenance of AC/DC motors and AC/DC drives.
Maintenance of substations and mini substations, LT and HT switchgear up to 11kV.
Maintenance of Electrical protection relays
Knowledge of UPS and BTU system
Ensuring adherence to HSEQ standards.
Carry out maintenance and fault finding on Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems, Siemens and INVT Variable Speed Drives (VSD), 11KV Slip Ring Motors and 550 V Motors as well as Battery Tripping Units (BTU), Medium Voltage Transformers, Protection Relays and Circuit Breakers.
Maintenance and servicing ABB REM 615 and 630 Relays
Maintenance of Medium and Low voltage drives (siemens Sinamics G130, ROBICON and master drives
Ensuring maximum availability of plant machinery.
Assisting Supervisors and Electricians in problem solving.
Assisting in the training and development of artisans.
Ensuring MOC process is adhered to and improvements in the area of responsibility.
Ensuring adherence to legal inspections on Electrical installations.
Performing standby duties and working shifts when required.
Maintenance and fault finding on Overhead cranes.
Intrinsic Qualities:

Good inter-personal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to interpret Electrical drawings and perform fault finding.
Leadership skills and ability to write fault - finding reports.
Good understanding and knowledge of planned maintenance principles.
Qualifications & Experience:

National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of five years’ experience in an Electrical maintenance environment, including HT, VSD’s, UPS’s and BTU
ABB RED670 and REF615 application Certificate
Siemens drive technology Certificate (DR-DRV-FUN & DR-G15-DG) and SIMOCODE PRO V (SD-SIMOPRO)
Registration with ECSA will be an added advantage.
Advance Computer literacy
Valid driver’s license.
At least 5 years electrical experience with Medium and Low voltage Experience (VSD, UPS & BTU)
