An exciting opportunity to be part of a new Womenswear brand launching in South Africa. We’re seeking an experienced Womenswear Team Lead: Trend & Design Specialist to drive seasonal strategies, trend forecasting, and product development for our women’s collection. This role focuses on identifying key trends, aligning design with market demands, and collaborating closely with buying, marketing, and design teams to create innovative, cohesive collections.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree/Diploma (eg Fashion Design).
  • Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in clothing design.
  • Awareness of global, local and holistic runway and consumer trends ensured.
  • Good strategic, conceptual skills and a solid knowledge of both the international and South African retail landscape.
  • Strong eye for fashion and detail with the ability to predict, analyse & monetise future retail and fashion trends for the local customer.
  • Proven experience in trend forecasting, fashion design, or a related field, with a focus on women’s apparel.
  • Strong trend awareness, design skills, and proficiency in fashion CADs.
  • Collaborative leader with an understanding of garment construction and market trends.
  • Creative and detail-oriented with a passion for women’s fashion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seasonal Trend Analysis and Macro Messages. Identifying Seasonal Macro Messages: Understand the "what," "why," and "how" of seasonal themes to guide merchandise teams, buying strategies, and potential marketing campaigns. Runway analysis and theme boards
  • Identify and design key items, and commodity updates to inform the merchandise team and strategy.
  • Create Tech Packs (incl. CADS) of designs across womenswear apparel, footwear & accessories.
  • Collaborate with Buyers & QA in fittings, colour, print and trim sign-offs and product reviews.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on creative direction, styling and product education.
