Responsibilities

Developing comprehensive project plans and resource allocation with support from the external PM consulting team Reviewing construction plans and proposal packs, evaluate project requirements and ensuring alignment with project objectives and specifications 

Ensuring that all architect and other consultant drawings are received, sign-off and issued timeously for both tender and construction To engage with all Virgin Active stakeholders to ensure that the full scope of work is properly recorded, costed and executed 

Take overall responsibility for tracking progress against the approved programme and ensuring that the programme is clearly communicated to all stakeholders, both internal and external 

Take responsibility for obtaining all supplier and contractor quotes for the various directs’ appointments. Ensure that orders are loaded timeously, and clearly communicated for approval at Head Office To provide regular feedback to VA stakeholders through progress reports and/or meetings 

Responsible for the overall close-out of all projects including receipt of all handover documentation (i.e. CoCs, engineering forms etc).

 Taking full responsibility for the coordination and installation by the various directs’ service providers (i.e. furniture, equipment, branding, signage, CCTV, access control, fire detection and panic alarms) Co-ordination and quality control of all service providers to execute installations, and extractions of equipment; and ad - hoc projects as required Attending / partaking in site visits, managing programs for various projects.

 Ensuring all relevant project documentation including (but not limited to) Health and Safety paperwork, Equipment serial numbers, and Close out reports are completed and submitted to stakeholders Project cost control responsibility with clear communication to the National Quantity Surveyor and Head of Property Projects who will be responsible for the review and formal approval of any variations or extras 

Dedicate time to developing and maintaining successful relationships with relevant external stakeholders Offer assistance where needed with equipment and direct asset projects. 

Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure the successful implementation of projects related to organizational assets 

Allocate time to the development of templates and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at reducing overheads and improving efficiency. 

Streamline processes and introduce standardized documentation to enhance consistency and effectiveness in project management Review cost estimates and contract documentation received for accuracy and completeness on the relevant projects, both within Virgin Active and its subsidiaries Provide support / guidance to other departments within the Virgin Active Group (ex Strategic Procurement, Maintenance & Facilities) to confirm accuracy of rates or any associated contract documentation / procedures Facilitate communication between contractors, National Head Office and club staff

Required Qualifications

  • Matric or similar qualification 
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as business, Project Management, Engineering or Construction management Certified as a PMP or similar with the Project Management Institute Proficiency in Project Management software (MS Projects, Smartsheet) 
  • Min 10 years’ experience working on large scale refurbishment and new construction projects Knowledge of JBCC contract documentation 
  • Proven experience in managing projects, preferably in a regional or multi-site context 
  • Working in a department dealing with the planning and execution of property / construction projects
