The Chief Directorate: Education Human Resources Management oversees four directorates spanning HR planning, performance management, whole school evaluation and labor relations — work that shapes classroom outcomes nationwide.
What You'll Do
• Lead the Chief Directorate, comprising Education HR Planning, Provisioning and Monitoring; Education Performance Management and Development; Whole School Evaluation; and Education Labor Relations Management and Conditions of Service
• Serve the sector by leading and managing a team, working closely with other DBE branches, national departments and provincial education departments
• Ensure effective and efficient labor relations across the sector
• Analyze and report on human resources requirements and capacity
• Develop a national teacher recruitment strategy and supporting system
• Assess the effective utilization of teachers at schools and revamp the post allocation system to reduce class sizes • Develop and implement the Human Resource Management Information System • Improve the effectiveness of the teacher performance system as part of the integrated quality management framework for educator evaluation and development • Drive initiatives that improve the overall quality of teaching and learning in South Africa
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
• NQF Level 7 qualification (SAQA-recognised) in Education or Social Science • 5 years' experience at senior managerial level • Experience in Education Planning, Education Human Resources or Education Labour Relations • Extensive knowledge of education sector and training system planning, policy funding and implementation • Strong understanding of HR policy and Conditions of Service development • Solid grasp of HR processes within provincial education departments • Strong writing, communication and computer skills • Proven experience managing a team
Nice-to-Haves
A postgraduate qualification in Education, Social Science or a related field • Demonstrated strategic capacity and leadership competency • Strong financial management and change management ability • A confident, trustworthy, accurate, adaptable and diplomatic working style
