About the Company
The Department of Agriculture (DOA) works to support and grow South Africa's agricultural sector. The Office of the Director-General oversees governance and accountability across the department, and the Internal Audit team plays a key role in making sure resources are used properly and risks are managed well.
Responsibilities
• Lead the planning of Internal Audit and Forensic Investigations work every year
• Keep audit methods and policies up to date and in line with international standards
• Build and manage the department's audit and risk registers
• Report progress on audits and investigations to the Director-General every month
• Work closely with the Auditor-General of South Africa and other oversight bodies
• Coordinate Audit Committee meetings and follow up on their decisions
• Track how well managers are acting on audit findings and investigation recommendations
• Manage the budget, staff, and resources of the Internal Audit unit
Required Qualifications
• Grade 12 certificate
• A Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Internal Auditing, Risk Management, Financial Management, Law (LLB), or Forensic Investigation
• Membership with the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA)
• Completion of the SMS Pre-entry Certificate through the National School of Government
• At least 5 years' experience in a senior management role in auditing, project management, or financial/operational management
• Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel
