The ILASA bursary 2027 is listed with a closing date of 27 November 2026 on SA Bursaries. The 2027 advert could not be found. The criteria below come from the 2022 to 2026 cycles, so confirm them on the ILASA page first.

ILASA bursary 2027 status

The provider is the Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa (ILASA). Treat everything here as last cycle information until ILASA confirms a 2027 round.

Field and institutions

The bursary is for a degree in Landscape Architecture, undergraduate or postgraduate. You must study at a SACLAP-accredited institution. These are the University of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Pretoria.

Who could apply

Applicants were South African or naturalised citizens. The bursary was aimed at previously disadvantaged students. Students with disabilities were encouraged to apply.

Value and conditions

The maximum was R40,000 per student. Selection used several things. These were academic results, financial need and university requirements. The funds available and the ILASA bursary policy also counted. In earlier cycles recipients had to work in landscape architecture for an equal period after they graduated. They also had to sign the ILASA Bursary Agreement.

How to apply last cycle

Applicants downloaded the form and sent it online or by email to ilasa@ilasa.co.za and nadia@citygreenla.co.za. They attached their ID and academic records. They also added a motivation letter and proof of their parents' or guardians' income. The contact was Christine Price, ILASA Bursary Committee Chair.

Tips for a strong application

Write your motivation letter in your own words. Explain why you want to study Landscape Architecture.

  • Certify your ID and other documents early.
  • Apply a few days before the closing date, not on the last day.
  • Keep proof that you submitted your application.
  • Check your email and phone for replies, including your spam folder.
  • Never pay anyone to apply for a bursary.

Final thoughts

Check the ILASA page before you do anything else. If a 2027 round is open, collect your documents and send your application before 27 November 2026.
