Introduction

Internal Medicine at Far East Rand Hospital needs three sessional Medical Officers. You'll diagnose and treat medical conditions, handle acute emergencies and join the night on-call roster. The pay is hourly, and the rate depends on your grade.

About the Company

Far East Rand Hospital is run by the Gauteng Department of Health. These sessional posts are in its Internal Medicine department.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care by diagnosing and treating medical conditions
• Perform procedures such as CVP lines, chest drains and intubation in acute emergencies
• Manage patients independently and refer them to specialists or other referral centres when needed
• Join the night on-call roster
• Keep accurate health records, following legal and ethical conditions, with high-quality clinical documentation
• Supervise interns and take part in CPD activities

Required Qualifications

• A minimum qualification (MBChB/MBBCh) that allows HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner
• Proof of current HPCSA registration as an independent medical practitioner for 2026/2027
• Reliability, discipline and the ability to work under pressure
• The ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team, with sound decision-making
• An advantage: BLS/ACLS

• Grade 1: R501 per hour
• Grade 2: R572 per hour
• Grade 3: R662 per hour
