About the Company
The Gauteng Department of Health is the provincial government department responsible for public health care in Gauteng. It runs the province's regional, district and tertiary hospitals, clinics, nursing colleges and related health services. This post is based at Gauteng College of Nursing (Rahima Moosa Campus).
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the provision of Education and Training of specialist student nurses in both clinical and theory.
- Guide and support student nurses effectively.
- Exercise control over specialist student nurses.
- Implement assessment strategies to determine students’ competency.
- Support the vision and mission of the college through participation in meetings, committees, and college activities.
- Participate in Scholarly Research and Community Engagement activities at the college.
- Participate in curriculum implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and review.
Required Qualifications
- A Grade 12/ National Senior Certificate.
- A Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in terms of Government Notice (R.425), or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/Accoucheur.
- Diploma / Degree in Nursing Education.
- Post Basic Diploma (R.212 or R.48) or Postgraduate Diploma in any (R.635) Programme offered at the campus (Postgraduate Diploma in Adult Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Midwifery, Nephrology Nursing, Occupational Health Nursing, Oncology and Palliative Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing, Perioperative Nursing and Primary Care Nursing) registered with SANC.
- Master’s degree in nursing or public health (Applicants who are in the data analysis stage of the research may be considered).
- Proof of current registration with SANC.
- Certificate in Assessor and Moderator.
- Good communication, supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
- Computer literacy/ certificate (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- A valid driver’s license.
- PND1: minimum of 4 years of appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after being registered as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur.
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration and teaching experience in Nursing will be an added advantage.
- PND2: minimum of 14 years of appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after being registered as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur; at least 10 years of the period must be appropriate experience in Nursing Education.
