About the Company
Internal communications is the glue that holds a large organization together — ensuring employees are informed, engaged and aligned with the institution's strategic direction. As Assistant Director: Internal Communications, you will develop and implement the GPAA's internal communication strategies, manage content for the internal newsletter, monitor the effectiveness of internal communication channels, and advise management on what information should be shared with employees and how.
You will also support change management communications — a critical function as the GPAA continues to modernize its systems and service delivery. This role is for someone who understands that effective internal communication builds trust, reduces uncertainty and drives productivity. Responsibilities
• Assist in the development and execution of the GPAA's internal communication strategies
• Design a coherent framework and implementation plan for internal communication strategies
• Evaluate communication tools and strategies for effectiveness
• Identify and adopt new and emerging technologies to strengthen communication programmed
• Compile tactical plans aligned to business requirements
• Develop communication plans to support effective change management
• Monitor internal communication channels and maximize their efficiency
• Develop new communication tools, processes and materials
• Communicate, lead and promote internal events
• Manage content development, storylines and plans for the internal newsletter
• Monitor GPAA internal communications performance and analyze survey feedback
• Create a national framework for key messaging across the department
Required Qualifications
• A relevant three-year tertiary qualification (Degree or National Diploma, at least 360 credits/NQF6) in Communications or equivalent
• Three to five years of experience in a Communications environment
• Two years of supervisory or junior management experience
• Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of: Official Language Act, Editing principles, Public Service prescripts and legislation
• Skills: Analytical, facilitation, presentation, leadership, problem solving, communication, organization and coordination
• Personal attributes: Customer-oriented, able to communicate at all levels, outgoing, team player
