Introduction
The Government Pensions Administration Agency is looking for a data and analytics specialist to join their Management Information and Analytics team in Pretoria. If you have a strong statistical background, experience with Business Intelligence tools and the ability to translate data into actionable insights, this permanent Assistant Director post is a compelling opportunity.
About the Company
Data drives decision-making at the GPAA, and the Management Information and Analytics unit is responsible for producing the intelligence that informs those decisions. As Assistant Director, you will develop and analyse MIA reports at both operational and corporate level, work with Oracle Business Intelligence and other IT platforms, and support business units across the GPAA in interpreting data and identifying meaningful trends.
You will also manage a small team, contribute to the MIA operational plan and GPAA quarterly and annual reports, and support the development and maintenance of the MIA policy. This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable working with databases and BI tools as they are presenting findings to senior management and non-technical stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Develop
MIA reports at operational and corporate level
- Analyse
trends and advise business on appropriate courses of action
- Translate
Business Unit requirements into technical and functional reporting
requirements
- Support
interpretation of GPAA Business Intelligence with trend data to inform
recommendations
- Conduct
quality assurance tests to ensure intelligence is consistent with GPAA
requirements
- Analyse
data captured in the data warehouse
- Liaise
with BI and Data Analysis teams on planning, designing, developing and
enhancing Oracle BI reports
- Engage
with GPAA business units and stakeholders in meetings and workshops on
statistical analysis
- Provide
statistical reports based on Oracle and other IT platforms
- Conduct
quality assurance of MIA reports and services through spot checks
- Manage
and develop staff including performance management, coaching and work
plans
- Contribute
to GPAA quarterly and annual reports
Required Qualifications
• A relevant Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Information Management, Statistics, Economics or Mathematics (at least 360 credits)
• Minimum five years of statistical experience in a Management Information and Analytics environment
• Two of those five years must be in a supervisory or junior management role
• Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), Management Information procedures and systems, MIS Business Intelligence (Oracle, SQL), Public Service Regulatory Framework, Statistical Analysis, Pension Fund Legislation
• Skills: Financial and technical report writing, problem solving, people management, presentation, customer relationship management, monitoring and evaluation, project management, analytical thinking, attention to detail
• Personal attributes: Honest and integrity-driven, customer-focused, team player, professional

TIPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION
