About this Judge's Secretaries (12 posts) position
Introduction
Law graduates have twelve chances to work beside a judge. The Office of the Chief Justice is re-advertising its judge's secretary posts at the Gauteng Division of the High Court, five in Pretoria and seven in Johannesburg, and earlier applicants are encouraged to apply again. The pay is R338 106 to R398 277 per year at Level 7, and successful candidates sign a performance agreement. You will need an LLB, legal experience and a pass in a typing test. Applications close on 16 October 2026.
Judge's secretaries work closely with judges and handle sensitive court documents, so discretion and accuracy matter as much as speed. The advert is a re-advertisement, which means earlier applicants should apply again and should make sure that the correct office reference is used: 2026/132/OCJ for Pretoria and 2026/133/OCJ for Johannesburg. You will need an LLB, legal experience and a pass in a typing test, so practise your typing speed and accuracy before the test. Familiarity with CaseLines and Court Online is useful. Prepare a CV that shows legal secretarial or court support work in detail.
