The Gauteng Department of Health is the provincial government department responsible for public health care in Gauteng. It runs the province's regional, district and tertiary hospitals, clinics, nursing colleges and related health services. This post is based at Far East Rand Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an in depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical practice and how this impact on service delivery.
- Incumbent will be responsible for supervision and management of Paediatric ward department in the hospital.
- Adherence to the principles of nursing practise according to the scope of practice, all quality assurance standards as well as set rules and standards of nursing in his/her area.
- Promotion of professionalism and leading by example at all times.
- Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the Office of the Health Standard Compliance.
- Co-ordination of activities of other health team members.
- Will be part of the hospital management team.
- Demonstration basic understanding of Human resource and financial policies.
Required Qualifications
- Basic nursing qualification with SANC registration which is a diploma /degree in nursing.
- Post basic qualification in Paediatric nursing / Child nursing science.
- Minimum of 9 years appropriate recognisable experience in nursing after registration as professional nurse with SANC registration.
- At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate experience after obtaining the one year post basic qualifications in the relevant speciality (Paediatric nursing / Child nursing science).
- Diploma or degree in nursing administration registered with SANC is a requirement.
- Current registration with SANC.
- Computer literacy.
