Responsibilities
• Interview, investigate and diagnose patients, and oversee their treatment
• Supervise junior doctors: undergraduate students, interns, community service doctors and registrars
• Attend administrative meetings such as morbidity, mortality and near-miss reviews, and complete medico-legal documents on time (death certificates, for example)
• Improve the quality of care with appropriate clinical practice and good clinical ethics to reduce litigation
• Apply and monitor the National Core Standards
• Take part in the discipline's teaching and research
• Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team
• Perform surgical procedures relevant to patient care
• Keep departmental administration and records in order
Required Qualifications
• A qualification that allows HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner (MBChB or equivalent)
• Proof of HPCSA registration as a Medical Specialist, and proof of current registration (card or receipt) for 2026-2027
• An MMed degree (ENT) and passed final exams with the CMSA
• At least 3 years of experience after qualifying as a specialist

• 1 – 5 years: R671 per hour
• 5 – 10 years: R766 per hour
• 10 years and above: R887 per hour

If nobody has contacted you within three months of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful. The department may decide not to fill the post.
