Introduction
Neurosurgery is the focus of this registrar post at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. There's one position, with rotations between the academic hospitals and several satellite sites every four months. The package is R1 041 402 a year, all-inclusive.
About the Company
CMJAH is one of Gauteng's three academic teaching hospitals. Registrars in this post work across the Wits-affiliated training hospitals.
Responsibilities
• Rotate every four months between the Neurosurgery units of CHBAH, CMJAH and HJH, and the satellite hospitals (Far East Rand, Thelle Mogoerane, Sebokeng, Klerksdorp and Tshepong)
• Provide neurosurgery inpatient and outpatient services, plus clinical, theatre and academic work
• Be present for all departmental commitments each day, including after hours
• Manage neurosurgery patients in any Wits-affiliated training hospital, consulting your supervisors daily
• Perform and teach diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that match a registrar's training
• Take part in all academic and teaching activities and finish your MMed within the appointment period
• Be a role model and clinical mentor to junior doctors and colleagues
Required Qualifications
• A qualification that allows HPCSA registration as a Medical Registrar
• HPCSA registration as a Registrar (Medical)
• No experience required after registration
• An advantage: at least 1 year of neurosurgery experience as a medical practitioner after community service, and a pass in the Neurosurgery intermediate college exam
