Assistant Director: Human Resources Management Job at Department of Employment and Labour, Limpopo — Apply by 10 July 2026 - Job Description

Introduction

The Department of Employment and Labour is re-advertising the Assistant Director: Human Resources Management post, reference HR4/4/6/01, based at the Provincial Office in Limpopo. The role offers R487,197 per annum, with applications closing on 10 July 2026. As this is a re-advertisement, applicants who previously applied are specifically encouraged to apply again.
This is a strong fit for an experienced HR practitioner specialising in COID (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases) services, looking to move into a provincial leadership role

About the Company

This Assistant Director post leads HR management functions specifically for COID Services within the Limpopo province. The role spans recruitment and selection, conditions of service, HR records, audits, and skills development planning — all centred on supporting the Compensation Fund's operations in the province.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Director: Human Resources Management, you will:
• Coordinate recruitment and selection processes for COID Services in the province
• Manage conditions of service processes for COID Services
• Coordinate and maintain the PERSAL establishment for COID Services
• Manage HR records for COID Services in the province
• Coordinate HR audits and reconciliation for COID Services
• Coordinate and implement the workplace skills plan, developmental programmes, and PMD systems for COID Services
• Manage all resources in the Provincial HR section for COID Services

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this post, you'll need:
• An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Human Resource Management, recognised by SAQA
• 4 years' functional experience at Senior Practitioner level in Human Resource Management (Recruitment & Selection, Conditions of Service, Performance Management, HRD), including 2 years at supervisory level
• Knowledge of HRM methodology and strategies, relevant HRM/Learning/Performance systems, Compensation Fund business strategies, COIDA, DPSA Directives, Batho Pele Principles, budgeting and financial management, LRA, EEA, BCEA, PFMA, National Treasury regulations, PPPFA, PAJA, MISS, and POPIA
• Coaching and mentoring, conflict management, critical and innovative thinking, people management, performance/project management, quality assurance, risk management, stakeholder relations, and data management skills

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you haven't heard anything within 8 weeks of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

TIPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION

• If you previously applied for this post, reapply. The Department has explicitly invited prior applicants to resubmit — don't assume your earlier application still counts.
• Emphasise any COID-specific HR experience. This is a niche specialisation within the Compensation Fund — direct exposure to COID Services HR functions is a major plus.
• Be specific about your Senior Practitioner-level experience, breaking out your 4 years' functional HRM experience from your 2 years' supervisory experience clearly.
• Mention PERSAL system experience explicitly, since maintaining the PERSAL establishment is a named duty.
• Reference HR audit or reconciliation experience, since this is a distinct, specific responsibility in the role.
• Submit one combined PDF (Z83 + CV) for your online application — incorrect formats will be disqualified outright.
• Quote reference HR4/4/6/01 precisely in your application and email subject line
