Introduction

About the Company

This Assistant Director post is responsible for coordinating UI Operations across the Mpumalanga province, covering everything from claims assessment to registry services and appeals. You'll be managing a unit responsible for facilitating employer services, processing claims, and handling local appeals and complaints — a role that combines operational oversight with people management.

Responsibilities

As Assistant Director: UI Operations, you will:
• Facilitate the employer services function in the province
• Coordinate the provision of assessment, validation, and adjudication of claims
• Facilitate registry services across the province
• Coordinate local appeals and complaints processes
• Coordinate general support functions
• Manage resources within the unit

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this post, you'll need:
• An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Operations Management, Public Management/Administration, Business Administration/Management, Administrative Management, Management, or Financial Accounting/Finance, recognised by SAQA
• A valid driver's licence
• 4 years' experience, including 2 years' functional experience in an Operations environment and 2 years' supervisory experience
• Knowledge of the Unemployment Insurance Act (UIA), Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act (UICA), Treasury Regulations, Public Service Act (PSA), Public Service Regulations (PSR), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and POPIA
• Computer skills, report writing, people management, time management, communication, customer relations, supervisory, and coaching skills
