Introduction

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is hiring an Artisan Production (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) specialist, reference FSNC 2026/07/08, based at Mangaung. The salary ranges from R253,341 to R424,371 per annum, depending on grade and experience. Applications close on 13 July 2026 at 15:45.

About the Company

This role covers maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration systems across the Mangaung facility, alongside training offenders in the trade. You'll be handling client work orders, applying quality control, costing jobs, and managing basic workshop administration as part of your daily routine

Responsibilities

• Train offenders in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade
• Execute work according to client requisitions and orders
• Apply quality control to manufactured products and completed work
• Cost products and supply quotes for jobs
• Carry out basic workshop administration
• Perform maintenance services on air conditioning and refrigeration systems
• Manage resources related to your trade

Required Qualifications

• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate underwritten by the Manpower Training Act (Red Seal)
• A valid driver's licence (not required for applicants with a disability)
• Technical analysis knowledge
• Competency in computer-aided technical applications
• Knowledge of legal compliance requirements
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Production and process knowledge
• Problem-solving and analytical skills
• Decision-making and teamwork ability
