Responsibilities

• Benchmarking policies, laws, standards, and best-practice frameworks relevant to SOE governance

• Facilitating board and committee evaluations and monitoring governance improvement plans
• Analysing SOE governance performance and compliance reports against shareholder compact targets, and preparing outcome reports
• Facilitating investigations into allegations of irregularities or misconduct (corruption, fraud, unethical behaviour) within SOEs and monitoring follow-up actions
• Contributing to project management, operational excellence, compliance, and stakeholder relations

Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only. If you haven't heard back within 6 months of the closing date, treat your application as unsuccessful.

TIPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION

• Highlight specific governance oversight experience, especially the required 3 years in an audit or corporate governance oversight environment — be precise about what you reviewed, monitored, or investigated.
• Reference the Companies Act 71 of 2008 directly in your CV or cover letter if you've applied it in practice, since it's explicitly named as required knowledge.
• Show experience with investigations into misconduct or irregularities, even if from an adjacent compliance or audit role — this is a distinct duty area in the role.
• Demonstrate strong report-writing ability with examples, such as board evaluation reports or compliance assessments you've authored.
• Mention any exposure to Parliamentary reporting processes or shareholder compact frameworks, since these are specific to this post.
• Note this is not an SMS-level post (it's Level 11, below the SMS threshold), so the Nyukela Pre-entry Programme requirement doesn't apply here — focus your preparation on the standard pre-entry assessments and interview instead.
• Submit a complete, signed application — both the Z83 form and CV must be included and properly completed, or your application will be disqualified outright
