Tradesman Aid Jobs (6 Posts) at Department of Agriculture, Modimolle (Limpopo) — No Experience Required - Job Description

Introduction

The Department of Agriculture (DOA) has six Tradesman Aid posts open in its Infrastructure Support directorate, based in Modimolle, Limpopo. Listed under reference number 3/3/1/46/2026, this is a Level 3 government post offering R170,226 per annum — and notably, no prior work experience is required, making it one of the more accessible entry points into government employment this circular. Applications close on 10 July 2026 at 16:00.
With six posts available at once, this is a solid opportunity for school leavers, general labourers, or anyone looking to get a foot in the door with the Department of Agriculture's infrastructure team

About the Company

Tradesman Aid is a hands-on, physically active support role built around the construction and maintenance of agricultural infrastructure. You'll be working alongside skilled tradespeople, assisting with everything from fencing and welding to general site maintenance, equipment handling, and camp upkeep. Because the work is based at construction and drilling sites, successful applicants need to be ready to work away from home for extended periods in a camp environment.
It's a role with low formal entry barriers, but high expectations around reliability, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently once shown what to do.

Responsibilities

As a Tradesman Aid, your responsibilities will include:
• Providing manual labour support during construction of agricultural infrastructure and related projects
• Preparing access roads and construction sites
• Handling construction tools, materials, and equipment, including welding
• Planting fence posts and straining fence cladding
• Performing general physical labour, including work on concrete and other structures
• Spraying herbicides and cutting grass to maintain neat, safe office and camp surroundings
• Cleaning and organising storage facilities, premises, and gardens
• Maintaining, safekeeping, and repairing premises, buildings, stores, tools, and equipment
• Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act requirements
• Keeping camp facilities (accommodation, kitchen, ablution areas), vehicles, and machines clean and well-maintained
• Rehabilitating terrain once construction work is completed
• Assisting with emergency repairs and breakdowns, including after-hours callouts when needed
• Loading and offloading construction materials, machinery, and vehicles
• Ensuring correct weight distribution and secure loading of cargo
• Supporting stocktaking and accurate record-keeping of materials and tools moving in and out of storage

Required Qualifications

To apply for this post, you'll need:
• An NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 Certificate)
• No prior work experience required
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to use hand and electrical tools
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work away from home for prolonged periods in a camp environment

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted before 10 July 2026 at 16:00. You'll need to submit a completed Z83 form and a detailed CV in PDF format (maximum 10MB).
Submit your application:
• By email: TArecruit46@nda.gov.za
• By hand delivery: 20 Steve Biko Street, Agriculture Place, Arcadia, Pretoria, 0002 (during office hours)
Enquiries: Mr Koos du Plessis — (049) 846 8535 / (063) 357 8644
Equity target: Africans, Coloureds, and Persons with Disabilities
Because of the volume of applications received, the Department will not confirm receipt of your submission, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If you haven't heard anything within 3 months of the closing date, treat your application as unsuccessful.
TIPS TO STRENGTHEN YOUR APPLICATION
• Highlight any informal or practical experience, even without formal qualifications — past exposure to construction work, farming, fencing, welding, or general labour can set you apart from other applicants, even though it isn't required.
• Be honest about your willingness to relocate temporarily. The camp-based nature of this role is non-negotiable, so make this clear in your application to avoid issues later.
• Show reliability and physical capability. Since the role involves manual labour, heavy lifting, and outdoor work in all conditions, mention any relevant fitness, stamina, or related work history.
• Get your Grade 10 certificate ready and certified in advance — shortlisted candidates must produce certified copies before interviews.
• Apply for one post only per submission. With six posts available, you don't need to apply multiple times — one correctly completed application is all that's required.
• Submit well before the deadline. The Department has stated clearly that late applications due to technical issues, including server delays, will not be considered.
• Double check your email reference. Make sure your application clearly references 3/3/1/46/2026 so it's processed correctly
