About this Medical Officer (ENT) position
Introduction
Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH) has three Medical Officer posts in its ENT unit. You won't stay in one building, either, because the job rotates across the province's academic hospitals and ENT satellite sites. No experience is required after HPCSA registration, and the package is R1 041 402 a year, all-inclusive.
About the Company
CMJAH is one of Gauteng's three academic teaching hospitals and part of the Gauteng Department of Health. ENT services here are shared with Chris Hani Baragwanath and Helen Joseph hospitals.
Responsibilities
• Do commuted overtime duties, which the advert describes as compulsory (see the note under How to Apply)
• Provide outreach and support to other levels of care in the Gauteng drainage area
• Rotate every four months through the ENT units of the three academic hospitals (CHBAH, CMJAH and HJH) and the ENT satellite hospitals (Far East Rand, Thelle Mogoerane and Rahima Moosa)
• Practise with good clinical ethics to reduce medical litigation
• Handle clinical governance and meet all legal and statutory requirements of the HPCSA
• Do medical administration and any reasonable duties assigned by the Head of Department, Head of Clinical Unit or the Medical Specialist
• Run clinical audits and monitor clinical effectiveness indicators
Required Qualifications
• A qualification that allows HPCSA registration as a Medical Practitioner
• Current HPCSA registration as a medical practitioner for 2026/2027 (independent practice)
• No experience required after registration
• Knowledge and skills in ACLS, ATLS, APLS and BASIC
• An advantage: at least 1 year of relevant experience after HPCSA registration
