About the Company
Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital is one of Gauteng's three academic teaching hospitals, and registrars here train in Wits-affiliated hospitals.
Responsibilities
• Rotate through the three academic hospitals: CHBAH, CMJAH and HJH
• Provide the full range of neurology inpatient and outpatient services, and neurophysiology (EEG, EMG, NCS and others)
• Manage neurology patients in any of the Wits-affiliated training hospitals, checking in with your consultants every day
• Perform and teach diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that match a registrar's training
• Take part in every academic and teaching activity of the department, and finish your MMed degree within the appointment period
• Attend departmental commitments daily, including after hours
• Set an example as a role model and clinical mentor to junior doctors and clinical staff
Required Qualifications
• A qualification that allows HPCSA registration as a Registrar (Medical)
• HPCSA registration as a Registrar (Medical)
• No experience required after registration
• Skills: patient-first attitude, general management, communication, professional judgement, cost containment, technology and computer skills
• Research and teaching experience
• An advantage: FCNeuro Part 1, or work experience in Internal Medicine or Neurology after community service
