About the Company
As an Industrial Designer for Beekman Super Canopies in Cape Town, you will focus on developing innovative and functional designs for vehicle canopies and parts. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders to create practical and aesthetically pleasing solutions that meet consumer needs and market trends.
Responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive design concepts for canopies that are functional, appealing, and aligned with brand values.
- Create detailed 2&3D models and prototypes using CAD software, ensuring designs are production-ready.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure design feasibility, material selection, and manufacturing processes are optimized.
- Conduct user research and market analysis to inform design decisions and enhance user experience.
- Present design concepts and final products to stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine designs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technology advancements to drive innovation in product offerings.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion of design milestones.
- Assist in the preparation of product specifications and documentation for production.
Required Qualifications
A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience in product design, preferably within the outdoor or furniture industry.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, or equivalent) and other design tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and aesthetics.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to articulate design ideas clearly.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with user-centered design methodologies and usability testing.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials.
- Familiarity with 2&3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Previous experience in project management or coordination of design projects.
