Responsibilities
As Accounting Clerk, you will:
• Render financial accounting transactions, including receiving, checking, verifying, and approving invoices
• Process invoices and capture payments
• Perform salary administration support, including receiving and processing salary advices, capturing salaries, bonuses, adjustments, and deductions
• File and maintain financial documentation
• Perform bookkeeping support services, including capturing financial transactions and clearing suspense accounts
• Record debtors and creditors, process electronic banking transactions, and compile journals
• Render internal control functions to improve the accuracy and completeness of the payment control environment
• Assist in identifying control mechanisms to reduce non-compliance
• Develop, update, and maintain an effective filing system for the directorate
Required Qualifications
• A Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of financial functions, with the ability to capture data and collate financial statistics
• Basic knowledge of Public Financial legislation, procedures, and Treasury Regulations
• Knowledge of basic financial operating systems (PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS, etc.)
• Understanding of working procedures within the Public Service legislative framework
• Computer literacy
• Strong planning, organising, and interpersonal skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Confidentiality, time management, and the ability to work under pressure
