Introduction
The Department of Agriculture (DOA) is re-advertising its Senior Driver Operator vacancy based in Modimolle, Limpopo, under the Directorate: Infrastructure Support. The Department of Agriculture (DOA) is a South African government department focused on strengthening agricultural infrastructure and rural development across the country. Through its Infrastructure Support directorate, the Department constructs and maintains boreholes, disease-control fencing, and access roads that support farming communities in Limpopo and beyond — making this a hands-on role with real, visible impact.
Responsibilities
As Senior Driver Operator, your core duties will include:
• Rendering production services related to drilling and construction of agricultural infrastructure
• Producing boreholes and constructing infrastructure according to specification and recognised standards
• Preparing access roads at construction and drilling sites
• Constructing, erecting, and repairing existing and new disease-control fencing
• Drilling, testing, and repairing existing boreholes
• Operating specialised drilling and earthmoving equipment
• Transporting, loading, and offloading materials, goods, equipment, and officials
• Applying safety and precautionary measures in line with the OHS Act
• Servicing, maintaining, and quality-assuring drilling and construction equipment
• Cleaning, lubricating, inspecting, and reporting defects on machinery
• Keeping accurate job records, registers, and log sheets for vehicles and equipment
Required Qualifications
• NQF Level 3 qualification (Grade 10 Certificate)
• A minimum of 5 years' driving, operating, and drilling experience
• Sound knowledge of safety standards prescribed by statute
• Correct use, inventory-keeping, and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Good communication and judgement skills
• Excellent hearing and vision
• A valid driver's licence (Code EC) and a valid operating certificate
